My boss only seems to have her agenda in mind when assigning new responsibilities. How can I get her to focus on my development when assigning new projects?
Weigh in on the Question of the Week:
What advice would you give to someone considering a mid-life career change?
Dealing with a difficult boss? Wish you could say something to make a difference, but feel like you can’t? Want to share why your boss is one in a million?
Now's the time, this is the place to tell your boss exactly what you're thinking. Vent your frustrations. Sing your praises. Offer suggestions. Give support and guidance. Speak your mind. Together, we can improve workplace communication and job satisfaction.

Thanks, boss, for the compliment you gave me on my presentation today. I go about my days working really hard, hoping I’m on the right track . . . it’s nice to know when I hit the mark. Please keep the feedback coming!
Every time I come by for direction, there’s nobody home or there is a closed door meeting…
I have a hand in several high-profile projects within my company, but it’s hard to know what to do next because each time I update my boss, he changes our strategy. How can I help him focus and take the time to laser in?
Why does everyone on staff discuss problems amongst themselves, then when it’s time to give feedback to leadership say nothing? And we wonder why our voices are never heard. I think leaders would be willing to hear us if we presented our feedback in a constructive way. Any thoughts as to how to get over the fear?
Finally management has given me the opportunity to lead an initiative without being under the scrutiny of micromanagement. Feels good to have a platform that allows me to illustrate my strengths.
We are supposed to be a team, but decisions are made without any input from staff who are involved on the front lines of the project. Then we are supposed to execute strategies that we don’t even think will work.
Just got back from an extended sick leave dealing with a challenging health issue. I arrived today to a bouquet of sunflowers (my favorite) and a card signed by all my coworkers. My boss didn’t take the credit, but a friend told me later that the boss orchestrated the whole thing. It’s nice to be back to such a thoughtful workplace!
