One of the best perks about working at my company is that we get the week between Christmas and New Year’s off. Happy holidays, everyone!

What makes a great office holiday party?
I read your article in the Baltimore Business Journal. I couldn’t agree more about the attitude in corporate American that is making everyone do more with less. Workers are fast reaching or have already reached the breaking point. The sad thing is this is nothing new. Many bosses have been expecting us to work our asses off in non-recessionary times as well, and they model this behavior of working ridiculous hours and being on call 24/7. When are we going to realize that this “work ethic” as we are so fond of calling it, isn’t ethical at all. It is destroying our health, our productivity and our enjoyment of life. Stop the insanity!
Whatever happened to lunch breaks? My company wants to squeeze every last ounce of work out of me by scheduling working lunches almost every day of the week. When are they going to realize that we need breaks to maintain our sanity and productivity. The lack of caring just astounds me.

Which is a more accurate depiction of the workplace–Dilbert or The Office?
is the fact that i have to work every evening and weekend a sign of good time management? i think not. but i’m screwed if i don’t get it all done. when will leadership learn that everything is not a priority and really lead us to work on what’s important?
Our company just raised several thousand dollars for a local charity. Nice to that everyone is still so giving even in a tough year. And to make it better the company matched the contribution made by the employee fund raiser.
Having a holiday party after work hours is one thing if you’re taking us all out somewhere nice, but to have it in the office and make us bring put-luck is huge slap in the face. Just letting us go home on time for once would be a much welcome holiday break.
Sure my company blocks internet use, but it doesn’t matter to me. I can do whatever I want on my iPhone at work. Just another reason to love this thing.
