I don’t care how old my boss is as long as he/she is competent.
I would probably feel a little weird at first but if they were a good boss than it really would not matter to me.
I agree. It might be surprising at first but not in a negative way. As long as he or she possessed good leadership qualities and communicated well with everyone I would be fine with it.
Should not be an issue, but if the gap is big enough, then there may be a level of discomfort, especially if there are “maturity” concerns.
I was actually in this position once, where I was the yonger boss. One subordinate was extremely jealous and that made our relationship very tenuous.
As a younger boss, I’ve found that it can also be difficult to deal with and gain respect from peers who are all older than you–even if you are competent. You really must prove yourself more than others.
