I read your article in the Baltimore Business Journal. I couldn’t agree more about the attitude in corporate American that is making everyone do more with less. Workers are fast reaching or have already reached the breaking point. The sad thing is this is nothing new. Many bosses have been expecting us to work our asses off in non-recessionary times as well, and they model this behavior of working ridiculous hours and being on call 24/7. When are we going to realize that this “work ethic” as we are so fond of calling it, isn’t ethical at all. It is destroying our health, our productivity and our enjoyment of life. Stop the insanity!

Amen. The problem is that someone has to start modeling different behavior, and getting good results form it, for anything to change. Forward-thinking companies are definitely in the minority.
My boss should stop slinging the BS that they are working everybody to the bone because of the recession. They have been doing this for years and years. How about prioritizing things, instead of doing more and more and more with nothing to show for it. All of our heads are spinning because we are so busy, but the results are that we are just spinning our wheels. This pace isn’t worth the mediocre results.
